Airtime (by Sourcefabric) is an Open-Source project to provide an automation system for radio stations. Its' focus seems to be on ease-of-use, ease-of-getting started. It largely achieves these goals, but then falls apart. My initial attempt to use it was circa 1st Quarter 2013. It was a disaster. Trying to get it to do what I wanted uncovered all sorts of bugs and shortcomings, and the reliability factor was very low - it required constant attention. Fortunately, software I'd previously written myself does almost everything I need and is incredibly reliable was running in "production mode". The drawback of my software is that it's oriented to terminal windows: not a problem for me, but a problem for others.

Airtime (by Sourcefabric) is an Open-Source project to provide an automation system for radio stations. Its' focus seems to be on ease-of-use, ease-of-getting started. It appears to largely achieve these goals, but practice the appearance falls apart. My initial attempt to use it was circa 1st Quarter 2013. This effort is not completed; it's in progress. It has been a disaster. Trying to get it to do what I wanted uncovered all sorts of bugs and shortcomings, and the reliability factor was very low - it required constant attention. I've invested far too much time in it: I may revisit it in the read future and try a new release that has come out this year. Fortunately, software I'd previously written myself does almost everything I need and is incredibly reliable was running in "production mode". The drawback of my software is that it's oriented to terminal windows: not a problem for me, but a problem for others.

I've had to take a vacation from Airtime, and get back-to-work on other things. Perhaps in the meantime, subsequent releases will make it more viable for my use. There is a sizeable user community, but it is mostly clueless, forcing the project to run on the technical skills of a few.
